Associate

Alexandra “Alex” Hess is an associate attorney in Jones & Keller’s Denver office. Her practice focuses on commercial litigation and securities matters, and she also assists clients with transactional work. She is licensed to practice in Colorado and Florida.

Alex brings a judicial perspective to her practice. Before joining Jones & Keller, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Michael W. V. Angel in Colorado’s Second Judicial District, working on the court’s domestic relations and criminal dockets. She drafted proposed orders addressing the allocation of parental responsibilities, pretrial motions, and postconviction motions under Crim. P. 35(c). She also served as bailiff for eight felony jury trials, researching motions in limine, jury instructions, and evidentiary issues as they arose at trial. That experience gave her a strong command of the Colorado Rules of Evidence and a firsthand understanding of how judges evaluate arguments and reach decisions.

During law school, Alex served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Marcia Morales Howard of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, where she authored a memorandum recommending dismissal of a bankruptcy appeal that Judge Howard adopted in her order. She also worked as a law clerk at Allen Vellone Wolf Helfrich & Factor P.C. in Denver, gaining practical experience in litigation and further developing her legal research and writing skills.
