Blaine Bengtson
ASSOCIATE

Blaine is an Associate Attorney in Jones & Keller’s litigation section. Blaine’s practice focuses on civil litigation, including matters involving commercial, securities, environmental, and employment law.

Experience

In his commercial practice, Blaine represents businesses and individuals in a variety of complex disputes, including breach of contract, fraud, tortious interference, defamation, unjust enrichment, and misappropriation of trade secrets.

Blaine also represents entities and individuals in securities-related disputes under the Colorado Securities Act (CSA), including defense of actions brought by investors and securities regulators against issuers of securities and FINRA-registered representatives.

In his employment practice, Blaine has experience defending businesses against actions brought by employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Colorado Wage Claim Act (CWCA), and the Colorado Employment Security Act (CESA), as well as misclassification claims brought by independent contractors under the same laws.

Blaine’s experience representing clients in matters involving state and federal environmental laws includes the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Resources Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and the Clean Air Act (CAA). He also has experience assisting clients with other natural resource issues, including water rights and water quality.

Education

Blaine graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. During law school, Blaine served as a law clerk for several environmental and natural resources law firms. He also worked as a law clerk for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Mobile Sources Enforcement Branch where he assisted with the development enforcement cases under the Clean Air Act. Blaine also served as Editor-in-Chief of the University of Denver Water Law Review.

Blaine earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas with dual majors in Public Administration and Environmental Studies. He completed several of his environmental studies courses while studying abroad in Freiburg, Germany.
